Ampilly French Limestone
This Ampilly French limestone is quarried in northern Burgundy in the Chatillon area. The quarry is maintained to the highest ethical standards and complies fully with the requirements of the Ethical Stone Register.
The stone is currently being offered in two shades – light and dark. The lighter coloured beige stone, known as Ampilly Veiné or Ampilly Clair, often has honey coloured bands running through it and the darker stone (known as Tigré) has patches of a stronger mottled brown colour. It is usually ordered in a mix of the two shades although for smaller orders, it is possible to specify one or the other as the predominant shade.
The bed height is in excess of 2 metres making the stone ideal for large structural masonry pieces.
Ampilly is a hardwearing limestone that is frost resistant and is ideal for:-
- external cladding
- internal wall cladding
- ashlar / masonry
- external flooring
- internal flooring – residential and commercial
- fire surrounds
- six sides sawn
If you are interested in using Ampilly limestone in your project, please get in touch. For larger projects, we would strongly recommend a visit to the quarry and the factory so that you can fully understand the nature of the stone.
Please ask for the technical specification of the stone.
